New Croogo Theme for Download: Simple

Posted by Andrew on November 17th 2009, 9:17am

Update: September 4th, 2010

I have released this theme for Croogo 1.3.2 and should be forward compatible. Please comment on the new post for questions and problems.

Here it is. My first theme release for Croogo. Not sure how many people out there are using Croogo yet but it's showing a lot of potential and it's especially good news if you are already a CakePHP developer. Ensure that you read the README file included in the archive as it explains how to get things like full text searching and the tag cloud working.

Simple: Croogo Theme

I already have a few ideas for my second theme so stay tuned and as always if you have any questions drop me a line in the comments.

Liking the theme. Simple and straightforward. I would think you could gain some traction with people adopting the theme and cms with some PSD's thrown in the download to make customization a bit easier. Just a thought.

Yeah that is a good idea. Although I'm horrible with organizing layers in Photoshop haha.

So after downloading I see a views folder. Can you post an exploration on the major differences between croogo, wordpress, drupal, and joomla. Views have always confused me in the drupal admin page. Joomla seems to share the limitations of drupal's confusing admin and the lack of flexibility of wordpress. Wordpress is straight up easy but not as scalable as drupal. Why should I choose croogo over these tools? Great site and thanks for taking the time to develop stuff.

That is a good idea for a blog post. Although I am not very familiar with Joomla or Drupal. I will do some research. Thanks for the comment.

Hi, great theme. But i have two questions?

a) I get an "Undefined variable: timeExt [APP/views/themed/simple/elements/comment.ctp, line 13]". How can i fix this one?

because b) i'm pretty new to croogo and can't find the standard theme? Where is it saved?

Sorry and thank you.
Andrew said on November 22nd 2009, 9:32am
@Dan, that is my fault I have created an extended Time Helper to display 12 hour time with am/pm instead of 24 hour time. I will update the download shortly but you can fix this yourself by replacing timeExt with time.

The standard theme is displayed in CakePHP default view directory.

I haven't gotten around to testing this theme yet on Croogo 1.2 although I don't think much has changed in the templating system. I will go through it soon and figure out if anything needs updating in the theme.

Hello.
I played with this theme too. Loks nice. It is a few days ago.
What I remember is, that I must replace Variable "$node" with "$layout->node" in few files in app\views\themed\
and
Search function is included in Croogo 1.2 now.
Maybe this can hel you little.

Hi there
Great work on this theme. I noticed errors too on the home page

Notice (8): Undefined variable: node [APP/views/themed/simple/elements/node_more_info.ctp, line 2]

Also the search doesn't seem to work.

Hi.

Can't seem to find a download link for this. has it been removed and if so could you please post it again.

Also would be great if it was compatible with 1.3.

Thanks
